EU-MenNet Project

The EU-MenNet project, carried out under the auspicies of the European Monitoring Group on Meningococci (EMGM, now known as the European Meningococcal Disease Society) involves more advanced analysis than is appropriate for EU-IBIS, including establishment of the European Meningococcal MLST Centre (EMMC). The Centre accepts meningococcal isolates from participating countries and submits these to multi-locus sequence typing (MLST).

Specific projects involving direct liaison between EU-IBIS and EU-MenNet include:

-	Development and application of mathematical models to predict the impact of MCC vaccination
-	Analysis of factors associated with death from meningococcal disease in Europe
-	Ascertainment of meningococcal disease in Europe (review of data and methods)
-	Analysis of epidemiological features by clonal complex
